From Barcelona (BCN)
From either terminal, you come out of the airport on the motorway spurs heading towards Barcelona centre. Always follow the blue signs to Lleida (A2). After various cloverleaf turns you will then be going north on the ring motorway past Media Markt and the Espanyol football stadium complex with Barcelona city in the distance on your right.
After 5 kms, you will see that the motorway divides into two on a rising bend to the right. Make sure you take the right hand fork marked A2 Martorell/Lleida/Zaragoza. (If you happen to miss the divide and carry on left, you will be on the AP2 (Autopista) to Lleida. Do not panic, but come off at the next exit marked Martorell and follow the signs back to the Autovia A2 Lleida. Unfortunately you will have to pay a small toll because you will have used the motorway for a few kilometres).
Carry on up the Autovia A2 for 56kms. You pass Martorell on your left, Esparreguera (and the emblematic Montserrat mountain) on your right, through the El Bruc tunnel and then past Igualada on your left. At the second sign for Jorba (exit 545), IGNORE the sign to Andorra and carry on up the Autovia for another 25 kms, until you see the exit 520 marked Andorra, Ponts, La Seu d’Urgell. Come off there and take the second exit to the L311 and your route passes Guissona on your right, straight through to Ponts. At the roundabout in the centre of Ponts, turn right and follow signs to La Seu d’Urgell. As you come down the hill into la Seu d’Urgell, bear off up to the left and then all the way round the roundabout. You will now be 8 kms from the Andorran border. Driving time to border approx 2h45mins.
From Girona (GRO)
As soon as you leave the airport, you will see signs to the C25 cross-Catalunya trunk road. Follow the signs to Manresa/Lleida. This road has been substanially upgraded in 2013 and is now dual carriageway, making it much less stressful than previously.
At Manresa, follow the signs to the Túnel del Cadí/Puigcerdà and thereafter you wind up the mountains past Berga on your left and up eventually into the Túnel de Cadí (A toll is payable). Once you have come down the exit road, bear off where it is marked La Seu d’Urgell (beware the tight off-ramp). Follow signs to La Seu d’Urgell through Bellver de Cerdanya and Martinet and then after another 25 kms you will come into La Seu d’Urgell,. Carry on up the by-pass with the town on your left and then bear off to the right to Andorra. You will now be 8 kms from the Andorran border. Driving time to border approx 2h45mins.
From Reus (REU)
Would you believe, there are signs to Andorra the moment you leave the airport, so just follow them. Your route is via Montblanc, Tàrrega, Guissona, Ponts and La Seu d’Urgell. As you come down the hill into la Seu d’Urgell, bear off up to the left and then all the way round the roundabout. You will now be 8 kms from the Andorran border. Driving time to border approx 2h45mins.
Once in Andorra
Once you have gone through the border, follow the signs to Andorra la Vella. If you are going to the Vallnord resorts of Arinsal, Pal, Erts, La Massana and Ordino follow the signs to La Massana. At the end of the town you will come to a big one way system. Carry on right, round the corner, for Ordino. For all other resorts, turn left. If you are going to any of the GrandValira resorts follow the signs in Andorra la Vella to Encamp - França. Once past Encamp (turn right at the roundabout after the short tunnel), there is only one main road. Follow that and you will come, in turn, to Canillo, El Tarter, Incles, and Soldeu.
